Observations and Portfolios with Digital Childcare App

In this guide, educators will learn how to effectively use the Digital Childcare mobile app to complete observations and portfolios. From capturing insightful moments to documenting developmental milestones, this guide will walk educators through the steps to efficiently record and track children's progress.

With user-friendly features and intuitive tools, educators can enhance their documentation practices and provide meaningful insights to parents and caregivers.

Let's start from the home screen in the Digital Childcare mobile app.

Click on the Observation tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Here, you can select the child you want to record an observation for.

Simply click on the child's name and then click "Next."

Educators can select more than one child at a time, or they can click "Select All" to complete a group observation.

Once you have selected a child and clicked "Next," you will be brought to the observations page.

Start by changing the date or time if needed to match when you captured the child's observation.

Next, add the child's observation in the following box.

Educators can include learning skills by clicking "Select Skillsets."

Click on the skills you want to include in the observation and then click "OK."

Lastly, before saving, educators can include photos, videos, or any documents.

Once the observation is completed, click "Save" to add it to the child's file and share it with families.

To add something to a child's portfolio, stay in the Observation tab, select a child, and click "Next."

In the observation window, an educator can switch to the child’s portfolio by clicking the "Portfolio" tab.

By clicking the "Portfolio" tab, a box will appear where educators can include a goal for the child.

After adding all the necessary information, click "Save" to store everything in the child's file and share it with the family.

Congratulations! You have successfully completed an observation and added an item to the child's portfolio using the Digital Childcare app.
